Green Light is a Go

Several weeks ago, Mike and I won tickets to go see John Legend at the Durham Peforming Arts Center. I had wanted to go, but didn’t really have the extra cash, but luckily the stars aligned and I was able to get two tickets to go.  The DPAC is a great venue to see an artist like John Legend.  Anything that required heavy dancing or audience participation would be tough since it is a theatre and you would end up blocking the person behind you!  The crowd for this concert was very mixed!  All colors, all ages! We had a couple probably in their 60s-70s behind us….he was the highlight of my night with….Save Room…yea…that’s my jam!

Anyway, Mike and I made a “date” out of it…going a little early to walk around Durham and have a few drinks before the concert.  The venue is really nice!  I don’t think you would have a bad seat…anywhere in the venue.

Before I write about John, the opening band was Raphael Saadiq.  One word…..fabulous! Take a look at some videos on his website…  If he looks or sounds familiar….do you remember a little group called Tony Toni Tone’?  Yep, that’s him.

Back to John Legend.  I didn’t realize how many songs I knew from him. Save Room, Ordinary People, Everybody knows…and my current favorite…Green Light.  I have a particular affection for Andre 3000 of the band Outkast.   So this is a great feel good song!  Another highlight was his encore performance of If Your Out There.  So if you are ever able to see John in concert, I would highly recommend it.  It was a great show.  If you ever have a chance to go to DPAC…I would also recommend it!
