Okay - I didn’t rock and Raleigh didn’t either
Well several weekends ago I ran the Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon. As with any inagural races, you never know how it will go. How well it will be planned or how the course will be, etc. Now that I have planned a few station events, I find my mind wandering off during these races…hmm…I would have put more directional signs out, or I would have put that table there or they should have told us that before had or if they had done this, I wouldn’t be asking this…the list goes on and on. I think that was mile 9 when i was like…”where am I” and “how much longer to I have” I was delirious from the humidity and honestly lack of training that I put into this particular race. Normally running long run 2-3 months leading up to the race…I only race 3 long runs…vs. the 8 or so that I should have put in…..live and learn, heh?
Anyway, I made it through the race…with a smile….(I figured out where the photogs were along the course…too many times I look like sh*% when the photographer snaps…never again!).

The “rock” part of this race was minimal. In my opinion if you have a name like Raleigh Rocks you should be able to live up to it. Big bands, more interaction….nope…we had a couple of choirs and few one man bands, but that was it. Not sure if the weather had a part in this planning, but maybe next year they will have more. Seven Mary Three did play at the end of the race…but I was so hot and tired, I just wanted to go home.
Until next time…..
