Raleigh Rocks and hopefully I will too!
I’m getting back into running….I took some time off to actually cross-train, and so far I’m doing okay. Not the best I could do but it’s good to mix things up a bit with other training and I think it’s working! I’ve signed up for another half-marathon which is next weekend…April 5th…..Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon.. This will be my third 1/2 marathon (1st half success…is pictured below)
When you look at the website, you can see that it’s not as “rockin” as I wish it could be, but I guess for the first year…it’s okay. They have performers throughout the run to entertain and motivate the runners and bystanders…. Here is the current list of performers and the locations of where they will perform during the race….but since I run with my IPOD…I doubt I’ll hear any of them :-)
- Wheels of Fire (classic rock) - Wilmington/Morgan
- Helping Hand Mission Marching Band
- Bagpipes - Blount St. - outside of Tir na nog
- Wheels of Fire - repeat of course
- Rhythmicity - (percussion band) - Glenwood/Hillsborough
- Adam Pitts - Acoustic Rock
- Bluegrass/Country TBA - Dixie Trail/Hillsborough
- Meredith Bathtub Ring (singing quartet) - Hillsborough
- Bluegrass/Country TBA - repoeat course
- Adam Pitts
- Rhythmicity
- Raleigh Drum Circle (community drum circle) - Morgan/Fayetteville
I do think races like this are really motivating with running 13 miles. Any motivation is good motivation!

While I’m on the subject of running….another upcoming race is Angels Amoung Us…..
Angels Amoung Us - April 26th at Wallace Wade Stadium - this race will be to support Brain Tumor research and to recognize those that have been affected by this. My friend, Meredith, found out several years ago that she had a brain tumor and August 31st 2007 (my birthday) was 1 year since finding out and battling the tumor. She had surgeries to remove the tumor and she fought…and won! We are very happy to have her smiling face and great attitude still with us. It’s scary when you know someone your age going through this. But inspiring to witness such an amazing feat!
