Across the Universe
I have never been much for muscials….well I love Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music…oh….the Wizard of Oz….but in general I’m not the biggest fan. Mike and I started getting Netflixs last year, since we love movies, but hadn’t the process of renting so Netflix is a great option for us. Also, we are more likely to watch movies that we would have probably never paid money for in the movies.
A perfect example is Across the Universe which is a movie based on the music from the Beatles and the 60s.
I have recently watched the movie - Across the Universe - which to our surprise, we really enjoyed. The portrayal of the times and music combined was great…Also to my surprise, Bono (lead singer u2) plays a role in the movie (with an american accent, not irish :-)). Bono does a great version of “I am the Walrus.” (As you can tell, it’s the noted drug era…)

An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool.
