Too Young
With the recent passing of Heath Ledger (Age 28), I am again reminded of how fragile life is and how you should take care of yourself…you only live once! This is not one of my more happier posts…..bear with me.
When you think about how many talented people have died so young (both famous and not-famous), you think of how things would have been different if they were alive today. You always here of the curse of the age 27. There have been many actors and musicians that have died at the age of 27. How much art & music were left when they went away and how in most cases, celebrity took over their lives and eventually ended it……….very sad.
So to celebrate or just remember just a handful of well-known musicians that have died under 30, I have listed their names below. Rock on their memory……
AGE 27
Kurt Cobain - Front man of Nirvana. I grew up in the grundge era, so this was something that affected me and alot of those I hung out with. Nirvana was one of the best alternative rock bands ever. It was a very sad day when he died.
Brian Jones –The Rolling Stones
Johnny Kidd - front man of the band - The Pirates
Ron “Pigpen” McKernan – The Grateful Dead
Kristen Pfaff- Guitar player for Hole

AGE 28
Tim Buckley (picture below)

John Glascock – Jethro Tull
Shannon Hoon- Lead singer for Blind Melon
Bradley Nowell – Singer for Sublime
Jason Thirsk – Band - Pennywise
AGE 29
Marc Bolan - T.Rex
Sabine Dünser - The Band Elis (?)
Barbecue Bob” Hicks - Blues artists
Bubber Miley - Jazz artist
Ronnie Van Zant – Lynard Sknard
I’ll leave you with this lyric from one of my favorite Blind Melon songs…Change
When you feel your life ain’t worth living, you’ve got to stand up and
take a look around you then a look way up to the sky
And when your deepest thoughts are broken, keep on dreamin boy cause
when you stop dreamin its time to die
And as we all play parts of tomorrow
Some ways we’ll work and other ways we’ll play
But I know we can’t all stay hhere forever
So I want to write my words on the face of today
…..And then they’ll paint it

Even knowing that Ledger was 28, when I found out Thursday night, the Curse of 27 entered my mind as well, along with Kurt Cobain and Shannon Hoon… and thinking how sad and confusing it is to think of such vibrance and passion that all of these souls shared and how suddenly it’s gone… and how weird and tragic and beautiful that is all at the same time…
No words quite articulate my feelings on it, so I’ll slink away now…
