Top 5
Anybody know of High Fidelity? John Cusack? Well, I’m a big fan of John Cusack…not sure why…I just love the characters he plays in movies (but he seems to play the same guy), but ever since Say Anything…I have loved him. High Fidelity is one of his other classics movies which is based on (among other things) “top 5″ - top 5
careers, top 5 songs to play at a funeral, top 5 albums, top 5 awesome soundtracks….top 5…whatever. So as I was running yesterday evening…(I received the Nike Plus for Christmas…pretty cool) and was thinking was are my top 5 running bands to listen to while running? I’ve compile a list for THIS week (my mood changes, so I can never narrow it down to top 5 ever!)
I’ll send out another list later on…

5. Midnight Oil - I get crap for this one - but I think it’s cool
4. Prince - need I say more?
3. Stephen Marley (maybe any of the marleys!!) - Reggae is great! Relaxed but has a beat!
2. U2 - I’m a huge U2 fan….so pretty much anything from them is great - lately it’s been City of Blinding Lights, Elevation, Beautiful Day (one of our wedding songs), most anything from the Zoo tour.
1. Prodigy - most of my friends are surprised that I say this. Prodigy is a little “harsh” but I’m more concerned with the beat and energy in the songs not the words - trust me some of the titles of songs are offensive. During some of my past races….I strategically place a prodigy song during my playlist which I know I’ll be on the tough miles…especially half-way! I’ve even put the same song 3 times on a playlist just for this reason.
So do you have any favorites? Top 5 lists? Please share!!
I found a link to some other top running lists….AOL
In the name of Sonic Death Monkeys….or Barry Jive and his Uptown Five…..have a great day!!

1. AC/DC, always upbeat plus a hugh catalog
2. Jonny Cash, driving voice and older rockability has the beat to keep your pace solid!
3. Megamixes, my wife loves these and I have like 3 dozen that are 10 minutes each!
4. Primus, I love Les Claypool, underrated Genius
5. Rush, I’m a power trio with bass playing lead singers freak if you cannot tell!

I watched that countdown! It was fun to look back on those 90’s hits! And you’re right…music just isn’t as meaningful these days–especially in hip hop–the beats sound great, but most of the songs are all about a dance. I’m glad that there are still some great lyricists out there like Common, Talib Kwali, and Mos Def. (A few of m
